Roadtrip 2021-2022 Winter: Seaside - Yachats - Brookings

Day 13 - Nye Beach

After all the wind and rain - it's warm enough for lunch al fresco today. Lunch comes from the Luna Sea - which is in the cluster of buildings right at the foot of our street. Believe it or not - what you see on our lunch table is in fact one order of halibut and chips and one bowl of clam chowder. The Yachatsians have good appetites!

Un dimanche après-midi à l'Île de la Grande Jatte Nye Beach

The maestro surveys his masterwork of a sand maze. It is thought to be insolvable without going mad. Really, really mad.

Many generations of seagulls have loved the roof top of this little oceanfront gallery. Wonder how often they have to send maintenance up for cleaning?

Many generations of folks also love this beach.

The Nye Beach LeviBall Tournament is a mainstay of the winter season.

Yes, it is January 9. And yes, people are dipping in the ocean, wearing bathing suits and shorts. What a mid winter treat!

After 6:21 hours, the Maestro has solved his sand maze. But, how will he get out? Madness ensues.

The sun is dropping and so is the temperature. It is January, after all. The parking lot shows no sign of this.

The entrance to Yaquina Bay - they tried to make it famous in the tv spinoff "Deadliest Catch - Dungeon Cove". Where is Dungeon Cove anyways?? Seems the whole idea didn't hold water.
